Disposable vs Pod Kit Cost in the UAE: What a Year Costs on Real Dubai Prices

Short answer: In the UAE, a refillable pod kit is not automatically cheaper than disposables. Against big-tank disposables at AED 1.40 to AED 1.50 per ml, a refillable kit using AED 35 bottles of salt nicotine saves you roughly AED 0.30 per ml, and takes months to repay the device. Closed pod systems cost far more per ml than either. The cheapest format depends on which disposable you’re replacing.
Most “disposable vs pod kit” articles you’ll find were written for the UK or US, where a disposable is a small 2ml bar. Dubai shelves look different. Disposables here routinely carry 20ml or more, and that flips a lot of the usual maths.
We sell every product in the tables below, so the numbers are ours. We’ve used millilitres of liquid rather than puff ratings, because puff ratings aren’t measured the same way across brands.
Cost per ml: every format on our shelf
Cost per millilitre is the fairest way to compare a disposable with a pod kit, because it ignores the puff number printed on the box. On our October 2026 prices, the cheapest liquid comes in 30ml salt nicotine bottles at about AED 1.17 per ml. Big-tank disposables follow closely at AED 1.40 to AED 1.50. Closed pods cost AED 10 or more per ml.
| Product | Format | Liquid | Nicotine | Price | AED per ml |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| NASTY 30ml Salt Nicotine | Bottle (refill) | 30ml | 35mg or 50mg | AED 35 | 1.17 |
| Tokyo Salt Nic Classic | Bottle (refill) | 30ml | 30mg or 50mg | AED 35 | 1.17 |
| Pod Salt Core | Bottle (refill) | 30ml | 20mg | AED 40 | 1.33 |
| AAOK 60K Puffs | Disposable | 25ml | 20mg | AED 35 | 1.40 |
| Tugboat T12000 | Disposable | 24ml | 50mg | AED 35 | 1.46 |
| Yuoto Thanos 5000 | Disposable | 14ml | 50mg | AED 30 | 2.14 |
| Pod Salt Evolve 6000 | Disposable | 10ml | 20mg | AED 25 | 2.50 |
| Pod Salt Go 2500 | Disposable | 7ml | 20mg | AED 30 | 4.29 |
| Myle V5 Meta Pods (2-pack) | Closed pod | 4ml | 50mg | AED 42 | 10.50 |
| JUUL2 Pods (2-pack) | Closed pod | about 2.4ml | 18mg | AED 65 | about 27 |
The device price for pod kits isn’t in that table. It comes next.
What does a year cost? Two usage levels, worked out
Over a year, a light user getting through 5ml a week pays about AED 364 on AAOK 60K disposables, AED 428 on a refillable OXVA kit with NASTY salt, AED 2,805 on a Myle V5 Meta setup and AED 7,127 on JUUL2. At 15ml a week, the refillable kit pulls ahead of disposables. Closed pods stay the most expensive by a wide margin at both levels.
The 5ml and 15ml weekly figures are examples we picked to show the range. They aren’t survey data about how much people vape. Swap in your own weekly use and the per-ml column above does the rest.
| Setup (device + liquid) | Device cost | Year at 5ml/week | Year at 15ml/week |
|---|---|---|---|
| AAOK 60K disposables (20mg) | None | AED 364 | AED 1,092 |
| Tugboat T12000 disposables (50mg) | None | AED 379 | AED 1,138 |
| OXVA Xlim Pro 3 + NASTY 30ml salt | AED 125 | AED 428 + pods | AED 1,035 + pods |
| Pod Salt Go 2500 disposables | None | AED 1,114 | AED 3,343 |
| Myle V5 Meta + pods | AED 75 | AED 2,805 | AED 8,265 |
| JUUL2 kit + pods | AED 85 | AED 7,127 | AED 21,210 |
Notice the “+ pods” on the refillable row. A refillable kit needs replacement pods or coils every so often, and we don’t currently list OXVA replacement pods as a separate item. We’d rather leave that cost visibly open than slip in a number we can’t stand behind. Budget for it, and the refillable row gets more expensive than it looks.
Does a refillable pod kit pay for itself in the UAE?
Only slowly, and only if you compare like with like. A 50mg refillable setup using NASTY salt saves about AED 0.29 per ml against a 50mg Tugboat T12000 disposable. The AED 125 kit takes roughly 430ml of liquid to pay back, which is about 29 weeks at 15ml a week and about 86 weeks at 5ml a week, before replacement pods.
At 20mg, the gap almost disappears. Pod Salt Core at AED 1.33 per ml against the AAOK 60K at AED 1.40 saves less than 7 fils a millilitre. The kit would need around 1,875ml to pay back. At 15ml a week that’s over two years.
That’s the finding we didn’t expect when we first ran these numbers. The usual advice, “switch to a pod kit and save hundreds,” was written for markets where disposables hold 2ml. In Dubai, where a AED 35 disposable holds 25ml, the saving is thin.
Why closed pods cost so much more
Closed pods, such as Myle V5 Meta and JUUL2, are sealed cartridges you can’t refill. You pay for the cartridge, the coil inside it and the liquid, every time. Each Myle pod holds 2ml and each JUUL2 pod holds about 1.2ml, against 24ml or 25ml in a big-tank disposable. That’s why the per-ml price jumps from under AED 2 to over AED 10.
People pick closed pods for reasons other than price: a slim device, a familiar brand, no refilling mess. Those are fair reasons. Just don’t buy one expecting it to save money over a 25ml disposable. It won’t.
The 2026 tax change that could shift these numbers
From 1 September 2026, Cabinet Decision No. 137 of 2026 set a minimum excise price of AED 1 per ml for liquids used in electronic smoking devices. The floor bites hardest on cheap, high-volume liquid, so the per-ml figures in this post are the ones most likely to move. We’ll update the tables when our prices change. If you’re reading this months later, check the date at the top.
Our post on whether disposable vapes are legal in the UAE explains the tax rules in more detail.
So which should you buy?
Our honest pick depends on one question: how much liquid do you get through?
- Under about 5ml a week: stay with a big-tank disposable like the AAOK 60K Puffs. A refillable kit won’t pay back for well over a year.
- Around 15ml a week or more at 50mg: a refillable kit such as the OXVA Xlim Pro 3 starts to make sense, as long as you’re happy to fill pods yourself.
- Small 7ml to 10ml disposables bought every few days: this is where you’re losing the most. Moving to a 25ml disposable alone cuts your per-ml cost by a third or more.
- Closed pods: buy them for the device you like, not to save money.
One trade-off the price tables don’t show. A refillable kit asks you to carry a bottle, fill a pod and replace it when the flavour fades. In Dubai’s summer heat, a bottle left in a car also degrades faster. If you’ll forget the bottle at home and buy a disposable anyway, the saving is gone.
You can compare the full range under disposable vapes and pod kits. We deliver to Dubai within 1 to 2 hours, Sharjah and Ajman the same day and other emirates within 24 hours; delivery is free on orders of AED 350 or more and AED 30 below that.
Disposable vs pod kit: FAQ
Is a pod kit cheaper than disposables in Dubai?
Not always. A refillable pod kit is cheaper per millilitre than small disposables, but only slightly cheaper than big-tank disposables of 24ml or more. Closed pod systems cost more per millilitre than any disposable we sell.
How long does it take a pod kit to pay for itself?
Comparing a AED 125 OXVA Xlim Pro 3 with NASTY salt against a 50mg Tugboat T12000, about 430ml of liquid, before the cost of replacement pods. At 15ml a week, that’s roughly 29 weeks.
Why not compare cost per puff?
Puff ratings are measured differently by each brand, using short machine puffs. Millilitres of liquid can be compared directly across disposables, pods and bottles, so the comparison stays fair.
Does nicotine strength change the comparison?
Yes. A 20mg liquid and a 50mg liquid aren’t the same product, so compare within the same strength. That’s why we priced the payback at 50mg and 20mg separately.
Is vaping cheaper than smoking in the UAE?
We don’t sell cigarettes and haven’t priced them here, so we won’t make that comparison. For health questions about nicotine, speak to a doctor or check the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.
