How to Check a Vape Is Genuine in the UAE: A Five-Minute Check Before and After You Pay

Short answer: To check a vape is genuine in the UAE, start with the seller: a business with a trade licence, a real address and a way to contact them. Then check the pack for health warnings and an under-18 notice, use the brand’s own verification code if it prints one, and compare the specs on the box with the brand’s published specs. A price far below every other shop is the biggest red flag.

Before you pay: check the seller

Vape products in the UAE carry 100% excise tax, so genuine stock can’t be dramatically cheaper than the market without a reason. A “too good to be true” price usually is.
On delivery: check the pack
- Health warnings and age notice. UAE-standard packaging carries health warnings and a statement that the product isn’t for sale to or use by anyone under 18.
- Print quality. Blurry logos, spelling mistakes, colours that look off or a wobbly font are common on fakes.
- Seal. The box and the device should be sealed. A device that looks used, or a box that’s been opened, goes back.
- Verification code. Many brands print a scratch-off panel or QR code you can check on the brand’s own official website. Use the brand’s site, typed in yourself, not a link printed on the box.
You’ll also read online that every legal vape carries a UAE digital tax stamp. The FTA’s stamp scheme was built for cigarettes, shisha tobacco and heated tobacco; vapes are taxed differently. Compare the specs to check the vape is genuine
Look up the brand’s own spec sheet and compare it with the box: tank size in ml, nicotine strength, battery capacity, and, if you have a kitchen scale, weight. A Yuoto XXL, for example, should weigh about 53g. A device that’s noticeably lighter, or a box that lists a different battery or tank size from the brand’s own spec, is worth questioning.
Be aware that even genuine listings sometimes disagree, as we found with the Waka Blade 50000 and Ripe Vapes Ivory 40000. The brand’s own site settles it.
After you open it: performance red flags
- A chemical or plastic taste from the first puff, not the flavour on the box
- A burnt taste on a brand-new disposable
- Leaking from a sealed device out of the box
- The battery dying far faster than the rating suggests, or the device getting hot
- A screen that shows nonsense or nothing

The one category that’s never genuine
Any vape that contains THC or CBD is illegal in the UAE, however it’s labelled or whoever sells it. It falls under narcotics law, not tobacco law. Don’t buy it, and don’t carry it in from abroad.
