5,000 vs 20,000 vs 50,000 Puffs: How to Choose a Disposable Size That Fits Your Week

Short answer: Choose a disposable by how many millilitres of liquid it holds, not by its puff count. Puff ratings aren’t measured the same way across brands; on our own shelf, claimed puffs per millilitre range from about 360 to 2,400. As a rule of thumb, light users suit 7ml to 14ml, daily vapers 18ml to 25ml, and home shisha-style sessions 50ml or more.
Why puff ratings can’t be compared
We divided each device’s claimed puff rating by the liquid it actually holds. If puff ratings were measured the same way, every device would land at a similar number of puffs per millilitre. They don’t come close.

The AAOK 60K claims nearly seven times as many puffs per millilitre as the Yuoto Thanos. Both are vaped by people with lungs of roughly the same size. The difference is in how each brand defines “a puff”: length of draw, power, and the test rig.
So a 60,000-puff device isn’t necessarily twelve times a 5,000-puff one. In liquid terms, the AAOK 60K holds less than twice the Thanos. That’s the number to trust. We go deeper into how high puff numbers are built in why 40,000 puffs.
Pick a size by how long you want it to last
Estimate how much liquid you get through in a week, then choose a tank that lasts the time you’re comfortable with. If you don’t know your weekly figure, think about your last device: how many millilitres did it hold, and how many days did it last?

Three reasons not to buy the biggest one
Flavour fatigue. A 25ml device lasts weeks, and it’s one flavour all the way. Plenty of people get bored of a flavour long before the tank empties. If you like variety, two smaller devices in different flavours may suit you better.
Heat over time. A half-used device that rides around in a bag or car for a month of UAE summer has a lithium battery sitting in heat the whole time. A smaller device used up in a week spends less time exposed. See our vape battery safety guide.
Wrong strength, big tank. If you buy a 60,000-puff device at a strength that doesn’t suit you, you’re stuck with a lot of it. Settle the 20mg vs 50mg question on a small device first.
When the big one makes sense

A note on rechargeable batteries
Any tank above about 10ml needs a rechargeable battery to get through all its liquid. When you size up, check for a USB-C port. A big tank on a small, non-rechargeable battery is the one combination to avoid.

Is a higher puff count always better?
No. It only means the brand claims more puffs. Compare millilitres instead.
How long does a 20,000-puff vape last?
It depends on the device’s tank and your habit. A 26ml device used at about 10ml a week lasts around two and a half weeks.
Why did my disposable run out before its puff rating?
Because real puffs are longer than the short machine puffs used for ratings. That’s normal.
